Live Puppets in a Surreal Story about Survivors Stranded in Time

Live performances are coming to mixed reality. Between volumetric capture and motion tracking systems dancers and actors can bring more of their craft to emerging digital mediums.

The Under Presents is a bit like immersive theater meets VR gaming. An intriguing multiplayer experience set between two worlds: a jaunty vaudeville stage and the harrowing survival narrative. Uncover the story of a ship stranded in time as supplies dwindle and day-by-day an otherworldly mist rolls closer. Follow characters’ interlocking fates as all journeys forward must turn back or become lost.

Think of it as a full single player timeloop based game with multiplayer components as a layer on top of it. There’s exploration, puzzle and narrative elements. As you discover the Under you may encounter some of our live roving performers

    Image

Tender Claws says that through the month of May, players can jump into The Under Presents every Friday for two hours starting at 5PM PDT

Tasty & Tasteless Art from Thrones Fans

From Imagination.. to Words.. to Characters You Can Taste

George R. R. Martin created such a multilayered world out of the phantasms of our histories that his stories feel truer than real life, or at least more understandable.  A Song of Ice and Fire drew the attention of artists long before HBO took an interest in adapting it into a series, but once the characters of Westeros were introduced to television audiences a wealth of art from a new generation of fans began to spring forth.  While it is satisfying to see our favorite characters recreated in different styles, for us at Too Much, it’s even more fun to see depictions of characters, places, and events not seen on the tv series.

The Dream Worlds of Danny Bittman

    A Craftsman of Dream Worlds

Danny Bittman is a self-described virtual reality artist, filmmaker, and developer but that barely relates what he actually does. He makes whole words from voxels, brainwaves, and dreams. Using VR creation tools like Tilt Brush and Blocks, he has created immersive experiences for Marvel, Google, Hyundai, Nvidia, and more. He was also part of Google’s pioneering artist-in-residence program. Currently, he animates and directs freelance projects such as Taryn Southern’s innovative “Life Support”

    Found and inspiring creator?
    Let us know..
    showcase@toomuch.media

Bittman wants to help all creatives discover their potential with immersive tools

His background is in narrative and special effects. He starting writing about VR very early on, but just as a bystander, once he took the plunge he was surprised that he was able to create so much with first just generation technology. He’s shared his journey as he’s experimented with tools, technique and practices as fast as he’s learned it with the intention of helping others discover their potential with immersive tools that often seemingly defy the impossible.

    More of Bittman’s work

With over 1,600 hours exploring the creative potential of VR, Danny Bittman has plenty of work to showcase, including this Stephen Curry ad for Under Armour.

“Life Support” was composed using AI from Amper, with VR animation from Danny Bittman using Google Tiltbrush and Unity, incorporating fMRI videos of Taryn Southern’s brain.

Too Much is such a fan of Brittman that his work has already been featured in Opusculum.

SNL sketches up some suggestions for HBO

Coldplay's Game of Thrones: The Musical

    And for extra credit:

    School of Thrones

There is a REAL prequel in development starring Naomi Watts. Few details have emerged but you can follow updates direct from HBO here. It will take place thousands of years before the Game of Thrones story we know.

There are four other potential spin-offs in the wings.

Though HBO is only moving forward with one prequel for now, there are four other projects that could still potentially get the green-light. Here’s what we know:

    Prequel #2: Max Borenstein

Max Borenstein, a screenwriter for Kong: Skull Island and an upcoming Godzillamovie, is working on a prequel idea for HBO. He hasn’t said anything about his project, but he did speak to Creative Screenwriting about his experiences working on both smaller scale and big-budget projects. “Sometimes it makes sense for a studio to plug screenwriters who do smaller, dramatic pieces into movies that are of giant scale,” he said. “What they’d like to do is bring those giant-scale movies down to earth a little.”

    Prequel #3: Brian Helgeland

Brian Helgeland, who won the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar for L.A. Confidential (and, the same year, the Razzie for The Postman’s screenplay), is working on a prequel idea for Game of Thrones. More recently, he was behind the movie Legend, which starred Tom Hardy in dual roles as twins. He hasn’t talked about the project, but back in 2015 he said television wasn’t for him. “It’s only in the last four or five years that that’s become an option, but I’m not interested in TV,” he told Collider. “I want to make movies so I’m going to die with my boots on.”

Prequel #4: Carly Wray and George R. R. Martin

Carly Wray, a writer for The Leftovers and Mad Men, is working on a prequel idea with Martin. Wray hasn’t done much press around her previous projects—or around this one—but she is coming straight off another critically beloved HBO drama, so the transition would be pretty easy for her.

Prequel #5: Bryan Cogman and George R.R. Martin

Entertainment Weekly reports Bryan Cogman, a co-executive producer and prolific writer on Game of Thrones, is working on a fifth prequel. He worked with George R.R. Martin on the concept, but of course is tight-lipped about what the show is about.

Martin hinted at a fifth prequel series in the works back in May, without mentioning Cogman’s name. “He’s a really terrific addition,” Martin wrote on his LiveJournal. “A great guy and a fine writer, and aside from me and maybe Elio and Linda [who run Westeros.org], I don’t know anyone who knows and loves Westeros as well as he does.”

Trover Saves the Universe Cannot be Unseen

    Send us your memes! enjoy@toomuch.media

Justin Roiland’s VR studio Squanch Games announced last year that their upcoming game Trover Saves the Universe was exclusively targeting PSVR and PS4 consoles. This week at GDC 2019 though it seems the studio has reversed that decision, as the comedy platformer is also slated to arrive on PCs via Steam and Epic Game Store. To make things even more interesting, it appears PSVR users have a firm May release date now.

    Am I Seeing Double

From the design of the characters to the feel of the universe to the objectives of the missions, Trover Saves the Universe is a mind melting otherworldly adventure that carves it own genre.
